The Out-of-Sync Child: Sensory
Challenges and Sensory Solutions

by

Carol Kranowitz, M. A.

Some children are “out-of-sync,” withdrawing from physical contact, refusing to participate in everyday activities, or responding in unusual ways to sensations of touch, movement, sight and sound. These children don't behave as we expect -- not because they WON'T, but because they CAN'T. The underlying reason is Sensory Processing Disorder (SPD), causing inefficient processing of sensory messages that come from their bodies and surroundings.“Over-the-counter” strategies, as well as fun and functional sensory-motor experiences, can help children regulate sensory stimuli and improve their learning and behavior.

Audience:  Parents, Educators, and all others who have interest.
